从2009年开始，北京大学社会学系和首尔大学社会学系开始举行第一届联合学术讨论会，每两年举办一次并轮流更换举办地点。第一、三、五届在北大举行，第二、四届在首尔大学举行。每届的规模，最少有双方10位学者参加；最多的时候有双方20位学者参加。从第一届开始，就设立了研究生分论坛，为两系高年级研究生（尤其是博士生）参加国际学术交流提供了宝贵的机会。今年的研讨会是第五届，在北京大学举行。本次会议向听众开放，欢迎旁听。
